RoCM Playlist: 16 Aug 2025

Back after a couple of weeks of traveling with a brand new – starting off by acknowledging the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mal Waldron. We have two tracks that feature powerhouse duos – the first being the team of Milford Graves and Bill Laswell followed by a recording of a live performance featuring the work of Nichole Mitchell and Moor Mother.

In the second hour, we start with an offshoot of the Black Artists Group called the Human Arts Ensemble, followed by tracks by McCoy Tyner and Richard Davis.

And as mentioned, before Tom Lehrer passed away he released all of his music – recordings, sheet music and all – to the public domain. The Tom Lehrer song played today is a previously unreleased song that is available on his website – https://tomlehrersongs.com.

The entire playlist is below. Don’t forget that you can listen to the RoCM online at KCSB-FM’s website and there’s an online archive available for two weeks after the show airs.
