RoCM Playlist (and 2025 Cow Harbor results): 20 Sept 2025

On a personal note, I ran the 2025 Cow Harbor 10k today in Northport on Long Island. It’s my third year running this race. I don’t pretend to be a “runner”, and my times are nothing about which to brag, but I do love the idea that I have spent the last three years trying to undo the results of… oh let’s politely say… 25 years of “youthful exuberance”. Be sure to ask your doctor if rosuvastatin is right for you.

Fun fact about Northport – it is the home of the rock band Wheatus who wrote a fairly popular tune called Teenage Dirtbag which was loosely based on a murder that occurred in Northport in 1984 that helped contribute to the nationwide “Satanic Panic” of the 1980s. So, ya’ know… good a place as any to have a 10k – and not even close to the creepiest place on Long Island.

As for the show, this week we celebrate the birthday of one Billy Bang, as well as a new release by Tomas Fujiwara. We have music by Nicole Mitchell and a James Baldwin inspired album by Neil Charles – which is also a fairly new release.

The second hour has the final album by Bill Dixon, as well as music from the Music Revelation Ensemble led by James Blood Ulmer and a track from Wayne Shorter.

Here is the playlist in full. Don’t forget that you can listen to the RoCM online at KCSB-FM’s website and there’s an online archive available for two weeks after the show airs.
