Happy 82nd birthday, James Blood Ulmer!
So today I want to acknowledge the birthday of one of my favorite guitarists, James Blood Ulmer, who celebrates his 82nd birthday today (Feb 8th).
My first introduction to his work was this masterpiece, an album called “Odyssey“, which I was lucky enough to pick up on vinyl. Fun fact – I bought this album about 20 years before I purchased a turntable and it was the first album I played when I purchased said turntable.
If you really want a treat, I suggest listening to this solo performance by Ulmer at Porgy & Bess in Vienna, Austria on July 4th, 2021. It’s an outstanding performance and very much worth your time.
Anyway – happy birthday to the legend.
